BlizzCon 2021 Is Cancelled
Blizzard Entertainment will not hold BlizzCon in 2021. The company announced the news through their blog. Stating that conducting an in-person event has become a challenge as the status of the pandemic changes around the world.
But, Blizzard did share some good news, saying that they’ll host a global event in the early part of 2022. The event will include an online show along with a smaller in-person gathering to connect the community together.
Saralyn Smith, Executive Producer of BlizzCon said “Building an in-person BlizzCon is an epic and complex affair that takes many months of preparation—not just for us, but also for the many talented production partners, esports pros, hosts, entertainers, artists, and other collaborators we team up with locally and globally to put all of the pieces together.”
Smith explained how it was difficult for Blizzard to conduct the event in a form that everyone would appreciate and hope for. This was mainly because of the challenges the company had to face because of the pandemic.
Blizzard held BlizzConline in February of last year. The event was an online version of BlizzCon featuring similar game announcements, developer committees, and exhibitions related to the game community.
