Codemasters Reveals Dirt 5’s Stacked Cast
Yesterday, Codemasters released a new trailer for Dirt 5, announcing that the next instalment in its more arcade-y racing series will release in early October. Rather than focusing on the driving, however, that trailer, aimed to reveal more about the game’s story – and its very impressive voice cast.
Most notably, that cast includes Troy Baker and Nolan North, arguably two of the most prolific male voice actors in the industry. Baker, probably best known for his roll as The Last of Us‘ Joel, will take on the role of Alex ‘AJ’ Janicek, who acts as the player’s mentor in Dirt 5. North, who is also notable Naughty Dog alum thanks to his portrayal of Nathan Drake, will be your rival in the form of Bruno Durand.
The five-chapter narrative will be told through a series of in-game podcasts, hosted by racing podcasters Donut Media, following your career via news and interviews. I’m a little surprised to see the attention Codemasters is paying to narrative this time out – previous Dirt and Dirt Rally games haven’t really focused on story-telling – but also intrigued to see the effort they’re putting in by securing two major names to help tell that story.
