Cyberpunk 2077 Night City Wire stream delayed to let “more important discussions” be heard
CD Projekt Red have postponed their Night City Wire stream for Cyberpunk 2077, issuing a brief statement of support for the protests currently taking place across America and throughout the world.
Originally scheduled for 12th June, which would have put it right in the middle of the replacement streams set up after the cancellation of E3 this year, it’s now been pushed back to 25th June.
We decided to move Night City Wire to Jun 25th. We still look forward to sharing new information about CP’77, but more important discussions are happening right now and we want them to be heard. We wholeheartedly stand against racism, intolerance and violence. Black Lives Matter.

The decision raises questions about all the other streams planned for the next fortnight. Sony have already postponed the PlayStation 5 event that was set for tomorrow, while EA have pushed back the reveal of NFL Madden 21, and we are aware of several game announcements that have also been delayed from this week. However, little has been done with regard to events planned for next week. The Guerrilla Collective stream is still set for this weekend, EA Play Live for next week on 11th June, and more for the week after.
Companies are certainly hoping that, after their public display of support for the movement they can get their marketing plans back on track, but if protests continue to roll throughout June, and with no sign that they are slowing down right now, we could see more delays.
Whenever it does occur, the showcase will hopefully give us a new look at different parts of the game to what we’ve seen before. Previous looks at Cyberpunk 2077 have given insight into Solo Strong and Netrunner character builds, and the reveal of Keanu Reeves playing the significant character Johnny Silverhand along with a cinematic trailer. There has also been talk of a multiplayer element to Cyberpunk 2077 but that is not likely to be released before 2022, so it is unlikely CD Projekt RED will be looking to announce anything regarding that. Then again, that could be dropped as a surprise announcement to really drum up some more hype for what is already a highly anticipated title.
