Destiny 2 is altering Trials matchmaking for Flawless players
Trials of Osiris has been a thorn in Bungie’s side but it appears they are on the right track and are not giving up as more changes are on the way.
If you went Flawless in Trials of Osiris in Destiny 2 this week and noticed something different, it’s because Bungie changed the matchmaking for the cream of the crop.
In order to prevent too many players going Flawless and not getting much of a challenge, Bungie will first make sure there are enough 7-0 teams in the pool and then enable matchmaking according to the score. They didn’t reveal too much about this new matchmaking system but the team did note they will keep an eye on player feedback and adjust the matchmaking accordingly.
On the flip side, the devs are not happy with too many players getting reverse-flawless treatment either. Going 0-5 is not fun for any of the team members and Bungie will look for ways to put a stop to it.
As a bandaid, they added a matchmaking pool with similarly unlucky teams, which will beleft behind after a few wins. Overall, everyone should find more wins in the Trials but fewer players will go on undisputed Flawless streaks.
On top of that, Bungie is testing a few other ways to increase Trials engagement, such as adding the capture zone mode to Trials labs.
