Fortnite Downtime: Epic Games Server Status, 12.60 update, how long is Fortnite down today?

Fortnite servers are shutting down this morning as Epic Games prepares to release their next big Fortnite update 12.60 for all platform players – PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and Mobile.

Epic Games announced the news late last night that they’ll be releasing a new Fortnite update for the game on Wednesday, May 20.

Writing on Twitter, the Epic Games official Fortnite Status account told fans:

“Hello, all! v12.60 is scheduled for Wednesday, May 20. Downtime will begin at 2 AM ET (0600 UTC). Thank you for being among The Agency’s finest.”

The developers will provide an update on when server maintenance has ended, but you can likely expect it to last roughly two hours and end at 9am BST.

Although it’s possible it can take slightly longer. Problems do occur now and again after all.

For those unaware, this means matchmaking will be temporarily disabled for all Fortnite modes, which includes the more popular Battle Royale mode, as well as Fortnite Save the World and Fortnite Creative.

This new update will bring the game up to Fortnite version 12.60.

Whilst it’s unlikely to be the biggest update since the game launched, it will likely contain plenty of new files related to the games upcoming Doomsday event which is expected to be the big season ending event for the game.

Gaming insider and trusted source for all things Fortnite, iFireMonkey, has posted a video that runs through all the things we can expect to see in Fortnite 12.60. Check out the video above to learn more.

iFireMonkey lists a few things – so here’s a quick rundown of what we’re expecting to see once the new update is up and running in-game.

First up, the insider suggests we’re going to see the Shadow version of The Agency appear in the game, altering the POI from its current state.

“A few updates ago a shadow version for the Agency was added,” the leaker tweeted previously.

“Considering he hasn’t swapped to Shadow yet this is either a red herring or will happen sometime during v12.60.”

Stay tuned for more details, leaks and hopefully some official patch notes confirming all changes later today with Fortnite update 12.60.
