Adorable Dog Can’t Stop Smiling As He Realises He’s Being Rescued
A poor dog who was hit by a car, shot by cruel owners and sat in a concrete cell for a week without eating because of his misery has been rescued – and he couldn’t stop smiling about it.
Sanford was found by animal charity Animal Rescue Group Dallas Dog RRR when he was staying in a municipal shelter where he sat for a week without medical help, unable to walk or eat.
The dog, who the charity predict is around 10-years-old, was found to be heartworm positive and suffering from road rash – skin wounds from spending a lot of time sitting and lying roadside.
But when the poor pooch realised he was being rescued – he immediately perked up.
Sanford was hospitalised right away where the bullet that was embedded in him was removed, his rash was cleaned up and unbelievably, nothing was found to be broken when his swelling went down.
After his rescue in April, the charity put out a call for a foster home for Sanford on Facebook. The post amassed 1,500 shares and foster mum Karen Velazquez agreed to take him in.
Since being in a loving home, the black and grey canine hasn’t stopped grinning.
Sharing updates since him rescue, Sanford seems to be settling in well – but unfortunately it isn’t a permanent solution.
The dog is still looking for his forever home.
“He’s still doing well and looking for his forever home!,” DallasDogRRR wrote on Facebook just last month. “He’s had a rough life, but he’s enjoying all the comforts these days!”
There is a standard $100 adoption fee for senior dogs, and all adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalising their adoption.
We so hope Sanford finds his forever home, but for now at least, we’re glad to see him happy again!
