Africa’s most beautiful albinos were picked at a competition in Nairobi
A beauty contest among albinos in Africa was held in the Kenyan capital Nairobi on November 30th.
All participants have a congenital absence of the melanin pigment, which is responsible for coloring the skin, hair and eyes.
The purpose of the competition is to draw attention to the problem of discrimination and violence against people with albinism. According to the organizers of the competition, these people have to face serious problems. In particular, they are being pursued for the sake of ritual killings because of erroneous beliefs that have arisen in a number of African regions that the parts of the bodies of albinos make people richer. The world’s first albino beauty contest was held in Kenya in 2016.
