Justin Bieber challenges Tom Cruise to a UFC fight – and Conor McGregor wants to host
After promising fans that he will be releasing new music soon, the singer shared an unexpected message directed at the Hollywood star, writing: “I wanna challenge Tom Cruise to fight in the octagon.”
“Tom if you dont [sic] take this fight your [sic] scared and you will never live it down,” he continued, before asking “Who is willing to put on the fight?” and tagging UFC president Dana White.
Former MMA champion McGregor then waded in with a guarantee that his company McGregor Sports and Entertainment would “host” the fight if Cruise proved “man enough to accept this challenge.”
“If Tom Cruise is man enough to accept this challenge, McGregor Sports and Entertainment will host the bout,” he promised, before asking: “Does Cruise have the sprouts to fight like he does in the movies? Stay tuned to find out!”
In the spirit of Bieber’s original message, the fighter then took the opportunity to take aim at Mark Wahlberg, writing: “I challenge Mark Walhberg [sic] on the very same card. Back when Mark Wahlberg was marky mark, I’d have still slapped the ears off him and took my UFC shares back (sic).”
Bieber’s unexpected challenge was met with confusion – and amusement – from Twitter users, many of whom pointed out Cruise’s famous propensity for doing his own stunts in his action films.
“Tom Cruise is 56 years old. Biebs, at 25, is young enough to be his son. My money is on Cruise. All that running he does in his movies tells me he’s probably in better shape,” one user predicted.
Another agreed, writing: “Didn’t Tom do his own stunts?! Justin, maybe you should just sing about this idea. I mean, do you remember Oprah’s couch afterwards??”
“Tom Cruise is almost 60, were there no 80 year olds to pick a fight with? And BTW he’d still kick your a**,” a third added.
Others wanted to know what prompted Bieber’s bizarre message, with one fan asking: “What did Tom Cruise do to Justin Bieber?”
Some fans, though, had challenges of their own for the singer, with one writing: “I wanna challenge user justinbieber to realise his 5th studio album.”
Bieber recently released single I Don’t Care in collaboration with Ed Sheeran, and teased fans last month that he has been “making new music.”
