Kaia Gerber wins Model of the Year 2018 at The Fashion Awards
Kaia Gerber, daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford, has been crowned Model of the Year at the annual Fashion Awards 2018, making her the youngest model to ever be honoured with the accolade.
The 17-year-old fought off fierce competition from the likes of Adut Akech, Adwoa Aboah (last years winner), Bella Hadid, and Winnie Harlow to take home the prestigious gong, which has previously been won by the likes of Kate Moss, Lily Cole, Jourdan Dunn and Cara Delevingne.
It’s an incredible achievement for the teenager, who only started modelling last September, just four days after her 16th birthday. She made her debut at the Calvin Klein spring/summer 2019 show during New York Fashion Week – and has been unstoppable ever since.
2018 has definitely been quite the year for Kaia, who has gone on to become the model-of-the-moment, ruling the runways at fashion week walking for renowned designers such as Burberry, Versace, Alexander Wang and Valentino (to name a few).
In January, she also added another accomplishment to her list, making her debut at Haute Couture Fashion Week for Chanel, quickly followed by Valentino.
Campaigns and catwalks aren’t the only achievements the teenager has made in the fashion industry this year, though. In August, she also unveiled her first clothing collaboration with one of the most renowned designers in the world, Karl Lagerfeld.
Kaia was supported by her family on the night as she walked the red carpet in a dazzling Alexander McQueen ensemble joined by her mum Cindy Crawford, dad Randy Gerber and elder brother, Presley Gerber.
At just 17-years-old we’re sure this is just the beginning for Kaia – and there is no doubt that she is definitely following in her mum’s supermodel footsteps.
