The streaming giant isn’t alone in throwing its support behind the movement, pop culture stars including Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande and Billie Eilish have all called for justice.
Taylor Swift – famously apolitical in the past – has slammed US President Donald Trump for ‘fanning the flame of white supremacy’ in his response against the protests.
The Shake It Off singer tweeted: ‘After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence?
‘“When the looting starts the shooting starts”??? We will vote you out in November. @realdonaldtrump.’
Taylor was reacting against a post in which Trump compared the protestors to ‘thugs,’ as well as the phrase ‘when the looting starts, the shooting starts,’ which has its roots from the time of segregation.
