Piers Morgan says son Albert, 19, is showing symptoms of coronavirus
Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan has revealed his youngest son Albert has come down with coronavirus symptoms.
The ITV presenter explained how Albert, 19, has been left unable to taste or smell over the last few weeks.
Speaking to Daily Mail journalist Andrew Pierce who is recovering from coronavirus, Piers said: ” One of my sons had it in a much milder way.
“He lost his taste and smell and it is a weird thing. He still hasn’t really got it back.”
Shocked at the revelation, GMB co-host Susanna Reid exclaimed: “Your son?”
“Yes, my youngest son… he had the taste and smell thing which I think now most people are associating with the virus,” Piers continued.
“Luckily he didn’t get anything like what you [Andrew] have had but he had that for a few days and it is a very unnerving.”
While the lost of taste and smell has been linked to the virus in the past few days, it still isn’t widely seen as a main side effect of Covid-19.
Primarily, a temperature and a new persistent cough is treated as a symptom of the coronavirus.
As a result of new government guidelines which were introduced two weeks ago, Susanna Reid was forced to self isolate after her young son came home with a new persistent cough.
The brunette was then left to dial into GMB via video link before returning to the ITV studio on Tuesday.
Speaking on her return, Susanna said: “It is good to be back, I had a slight different co-presenter from my sofa, my cat Sukie.
“She was a little quicker than my usual co-presenter.
“It is a relief to be back in the studio.
“I really feel for people in the lockdown… it is difficult being in lockdown.”
