Angry people believe themselves to be smarter
It was reported that angry people tend to exaggerate their intelligence.
More than 500 undergraduates from Warsaw University were asked to identify how quickly and how often they became angry.
Students were then subjected to a study of their intellects, and eventually to an objective test of intelligence.
Neurotics underestimate their intelligence. In the study, it was observed that students who tend to get angry quickly overestimated their cognitive abilities, while those who were more neurotic, generally underestimated their intelligence.
Underlining that the anger is not linked to intelligence, experts say more research needs to be done to understand the cause-and-effect relationship between anger and exaggeration.
The results of the research were published in the “Intelligence” magazine.
