A shark killed a tourist in Egypt
A 41-year-old tourist from the Czech Republic, vacationing with his family on the Red Sea coast, 20 kilometers north of the city of Marsa al-Alam, was killed in a shark attack, AFP reports.
The remains of the deceased were found on the beach. The Ministry of Health of Egypt decided to transfer the body to the Czech side. Also, the Czech Foreign Ministry is waiting for comments from Egyptian colleagues in order to make recommendations for Czech tourists regarding the safety regulations in the resorts of Egypt.
The chairman of the city council of Marsa al-Alam, Atef Wagdy, said that the Egyptian Ministry of the Environment is currently investigating the incident.
“Sweeming on the beaches around Marsa al-Alam is safe,” Wagdy said. “But divers who swim over the coral reef barrier risk being attacked by sharks.”
