In Tajikistan 13 prisoners were killed during a riot in the colony
In the north of Tajikistan, in a strict regime colony located in the city of Khujand, 13 prisoners were killed, the Tajik Telegraph Agency reports.
According to a Reuters source in the country’s security service, there may be more dead.
A source of RIA Novosti in the security structures of the Sughd region, said that the prisoners were killed during the storming of the colony by special forces. One of the prisoners, a member of the Islamic State (a terrorist group banned in Russia), managed to disarm the guard. Having selected the assault rifle, the convict began shooting at the wardens and guards. One of the buildings of the colony was captured by prisoners. The riot was suppressed by special forces of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Sughd region.
According to the main administration of the execution of criminal punishments of the Ministry of Justice of Tajikistan, on the site of the state of emergency “a special investigation team is working, the reasons for the riot are established”.
