Pegasus: Macron changes phone after revelations

French President Emmanuel Macron changed his telephone and phone number following revelations in which he was suspected to have been among the victims of Pegasus spyware, said the BBC.

It is not clear if the software was ever installed on the phone used by President Macron, but his number was among a list of 50,000 contacts who were potentially victims.

The news in recent hours alarmed the French government to the point that it pushed Macron on Thursday to convene a defence council “especially dedicated to the Pegasus case and the question of computer security”.
