Protests in Nicaragua – new victims
Five people were killed on Sunday, July 15, during protests.
Such figures were reported by RIA Novosti Russia citing the Nicaraguan Human Rights Association. According to human rights activists, people died in the places like Diria, Diriomo, Nikinoomo and Catarina in the department of Granada, as well as in the department of Masaya.
Earlier it became known that two people were killed by supporters of the authorities in the building of the National Autonomous University in Managua.
In Nicaragua, on April 18, protest actions are held against increasing the amount of contributions of employers and workers to social insurance funds. President Daniel Ortega has already abolished this reform, but people have not stopped going out on the streets.
A week earlier, July 8, 14 people were killed. The total number of victims of protests in the country exceeded 350 people.
