Arsenal may use Lucas Torreira in ‘player-plus-cash’ deal for Lazio midfielder
Arsenal are reportedly considering including Lucas Torreira in a part-exchange deal for Lazio midfielder Joaquin Correa.
Torreira spent last season on loan with Atletico Madrid, and is understood to be seeking a move away from the club.
Fortunately for him, various recent reports suggest that new Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri is keen to bring him to the Serie A.
That could be ideal for the Gunners, who are interested in Lazio’s own Correa, who is also looking to secure a move away from the Italian capital.
It is understood that Correa’s agent has been hunting for offers, ideally in the Premier League, for six months, with only Arsenal interested.
According to Italian outlet Il Messaggero, Lazio have already turned down a £17million bid from the Gunners.
But developments on Sunday suggest they could be willing to up the stakes by including Torreira, a known a target for Lazio, in a deal.
It’s thought that I Biancocelesti are looking for an offer in the region of over £30m.
So the report suggests that Arsenal would be willing to spend around £13-17m, plus Torreira, to secure a deal for Correa which suits all parties.
Correa had far from a bad season last time out, scoring 11 goals and providing six assists while playing more as a second striker than a midfielder.
Meanwhile, Arteta and co. are readying another move for Aouar, according to The Sun, who could be available for just £20million this time around.
Arsenal failed in their attempt to prise Houssem Aouar away from Lyon last summer, seeing a £30million bid rejected for the midfielder.
Lyon are reportedly open to selling their star man after failing to qualify for the Champions League, meaning the Gunners are now preparing a £100,000-a-week contract offer.
