Bayer Munich demand £27m for Liverpool and Manchester United target Thiago
Bayern Munich are open to selling Thiago Alcantara this summer but Liverpool and Manchester United will need to pay their €30 million (£27.2m) asking price, according to reports in Germany.
The midfielder has just one year remaining on his contract with the German champions and has not yet agreed a new deal.
Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for the 29-year-old, with reports claiming that the Premier League champions have agreed personal terms with the midfielder.
Manchester United are also reportedly in the running to sign Thiago having come close to signing the midfielder in 2013.
According to Bild, Bayern have now decided that they would be willing to offload Thiago this summer as long as a club matches their €30m (£27.2m) valuation.
The report also claims that the Bundesliga champions are willing to sell Corentin Tolisso, who has been linked with a move to United.
Liverpool, however, reportedly have reservations over a deal for Thiago as they are concerned by the player’s age and injury record.
When asked about a potential move for Thiago, Jurgen Klopp said last week: ‘I have no idea who will play for me next year, there is nothing to say at the moment.
‘Thiago Alcantara is a great player, but also a Bayern Munich player. That’s actually all there is to say. There’s nothing to say!’
A move for Thiago could also depend on the future of Georginio Wijnaldum, who has just one year left on his contract with Liverpool and has not yet agreed a new deal.
United, meanwhile, are looking to bolster Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s midfield options and have been heavily linked with a move for Ajax’s Donny van de Beek.
After securing Champions League qualification for next season, Solskjaer reportedly has around £140m to spend this summer, although a significant part of that will be used to sign their priority target Jadon Sancho.
