Borussia Dortmund fans have new Jadon Sancho Manchester United transfer theory after goal
Borussia Dortmund fans have a new transfer theory about Jadon Sancho following his latest goal for the club.
Sancho has been a priority transfer target for Manchester United for a number of years now.
The club attempted to sign the former Manchester City youngster in the summer transfer window, however, the 20-year-old ended up staying in Germany as Dortmund stood firm over their €120million asking price.
Sancho remains on United’s wish list, though, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to add a first-team ready right-winger to his squad.
In the meantime the England international has been getting on with the current task in hand, helping Dortmund to a 4-0 victory over struggling Schalke in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
Sancho scored his 35th goal in the Bundesliga, making him the youngest player to reach that mark.
After his 42nd-minute strike to break the deadlock, he celebrated in emotional style in front of the television cameras, repeatedly beating his hand against the Dortmund badge on his shirt.
A simple outpouring of joy at having scored against one of his team’s fiercest rivals, or was there more to it than that?
Plenty of Dortmund supporters certainly thought so – suggesting it was a sign that Sancho is more than happy where he is, and does not in fact have his heart set on a return to Manchester.
Erling Haaland – another player linked with United – scored twice in the same game, including a spectacular bicycle kick which was set up by Sancho.
Haaland now has 43 goals in 43 appearances since joining Dortmund from RB Salzburg.
Asked about the assist for Haaland’s wonder strike, Sancho told Sport1: “It takes two to tango. When I looked up, I saw Erling in some space and it was strange for me to see Erling alone, and I know what he can do on the pitch. So I just lifted it up in the air and he did the rest. Crazy!”
