Bukayo Saka waxes lyrical about what Jack Grealish and Ben Chilwell did in England training
Bukayo Saka has heaped praise on Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish and Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell after seeing their volleying techniques in England training.
The 19-year-old scored the Three Lions’ only goal in their Euro 2020 warm-up game against Austria earlier this month, and he looks to be learning more about his trade while away on international duty.
Speaking to England’s official Twitter account about his time at St George’s Park so far, the talented teenager said: “The thing about training is there’s just so much quality everywhere. You can learn a few things off each other.”
And he seems to have heeded a lesson in the art of volleying from Grealish – who has incidentally been linked with a move to join Saka at Arsenal – after footage emerged of his incredible technique earlier this week.
“Jack [Grealish], yeah yeah, sick man,” he said. “I think that volley he did was mad you know.
“I think the volley was the one that I was trying to get my head around how to score it and I think he did it perfect you know the side winder just straight in the top bins.
“He called it before as well so that’s what made it even crazier.”
However, according to Saka, Grealish isn’t the only one who’s got the skill down to a T, as Champions League winning left-back Chilwell has consistently shown that he can trouble goalkeepers with a volley.
“But even chilli [Chilwell] as well, he was banging it in from the volley but yeah I think it’s good to obviously train with quality players and I’m enjoying it.”
All three mentioned didn’t feature in England’s Euro 2020 opener against Croatia, but will be hoping they get the chance to show off their skill later in the tournament.
England face Scotland at Wembley tomorrow in their second group match.
