Chelsea provide triple injury update ahead of Manchester United fixture
Frank Lampard has confirmed that N’Golo Kante is a doubt for Chelsea’s trip to face Manchester United this weekend.
Chelsea begin the new Premier League season on Sunday when they travel to take on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side at Old Trafford.
Lampard will be looking to begin his reign as Chelsea manager in style when they face old foes United this weekend, but he could be without a number of key players.
Kante, Antonio Rudiger and Willian are all back in training ahead of the first match of the season, but it remains to be seen if any of the trio will make the final match day squad.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon, Chelsea legend Lampard confirmed the latest team news.
“We have Kante fit, whether we have him match fit I’m not sure,” Lampard said. “Rudiger and Willian have been training, but possibly Sunday is too soon for him.”
Chelsea’s summer transfer ban means Lampard is set to give youth a chance in the coming season, and he is confident that they have what it takes to bolster his first-team squad.
Lampard added: “I know the talent they have. I love them as lads as they bring enthusiasm and quality. In that I include (Reece) James and (Fikayo) Tomori, and with (Chrisitian) Pulisic coming in. Youth isn’t everything, but I am expectant of what they can do.”
