Cristiano Ronaldo’s brutal response to Atalanta ultras after rescuing Man Utd draw

Cristiano Ronaldo delivered a brutal response to the Atalanta ultras after rescuing a draw for Manchester United in the Champions League.

It appeared that the Red Devils were heading for their third defeat in five games at the Gewiss Stadium as the match entered injury time.

That would have been another blow to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has been fighting for his job in recent weeks after a dreadful run of results that had seen United drop to ninth in the top-flight.

Goals from Josip Illicic and Duvan Zapata had put Atalanta in pole position to pick up a win in the Champions League Group F clash, with Ronaldo having already scored one equaliser.

But in the first minute of added time, Ronaldo struck his fifth goal in four matches in the tournament to rescue a point.

Mason Greenwood had lifted the ball towards the Portuguese superstar, who had taken up position on the edge of the box.

And the 36-year-old duly delivered a stunning volley which flew past Atalanta keeper Juan Musso and into the bottom corner.

United were able to hold on to secure the point and maintain their place at the top of their group, with a win in their nest game sealing their place in the knockout stages.

The atmosphere in Atalanta was a boisterous one, but Ronaldo took the opportunity to hit back at the home crowd at the end of the game.

As he walked down the tunnel, the United star waved and blew a kiss at the section of the stadium that holds the Atalanta ultras.

Ronaldo has some history with Atalanta, having faced the Serie A side eight times, winning two, drawing five and losing once.

Much of those clashes came during his three years at Juventus, with Gian Piero Gasperini’s side one of the Old Lady’s biggest rivals.

But it seems that Ronaldo has now got the last laugh on the ultras with his stunning equaliser on Wednesday night.
