Cristiano Ronaldo’s reaction to triumphant Nou Camp return against Lionel Messi’s Barcelon
Cristiano Ronaldo clearly enjoys playing at the Nou Camp and made no secret of it on Tuesday night.
The Portuguese icon has now scored 14 goals at the Barcelona stadium – more than he has at any other away stadium.
Ronaldo’s two penalties, which put him past the 650 goal mark for his career, came either side of Weston McKennie’s emphatic goal to give Juventus a 3-0 win over Ronald Koeman’s Barcelona.
The Catalan side were disappointing, and would have offered little had it not been for Lionel Messi’s attempts to force Gianluigi Buffon into action.
The match was perhaps the final time Ronaldo and long-term rival Messi will meet on the same pitch, with both in the twilight of their careers.
The two spent the prime of their careers on opposing sides of El Classico, with Ronaldo establishing himself as a club legend at Real Madrid.
They played against each other 18 times in La Liga, with Ronaldo victorious on only four occasions.
And after the win on Tuesday night, the Portuguese icon took to Instagram to hail Barcelona as one of the toughest teams he faced through his career.
He wrote: “Always great to return to Spain and to Catalunya, always hard to play in Camp Nou against one of the best teams I ever faced.
“Today we were a team of Champions! A true, strong and united family!
“Playing like this, we have nothing to fear until the end of the season… Let’s go, guys! Let’s go, Juve! Fino Alla Fine!”
