Everton want Ben Foster or Sergio Romero
According to The Sun, Everton are rivalling Chelsea for the signature of Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster.
It’s claimed that Foster is a man in demand following Watford’s relegation, despite the fact that he is now 37.
Foster even signed a new deal with Watford in June, committing his future to the Hornets until 2022.
Watford have suffered relegation since then though, meaning that Foster may yet be tempted back to the Premier League.
Chelsea are allegedly struggling to find a replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga, so a cheap move for Foster may make sense.
Meanwhile, Everton are looking at Foster as Carlo Ancelotti wants real competition for Jordan Pickford, who struggled last season.
Manchester United’s Sergio Romero is another option for Everton, but Foster is believed to be higher on their wish list.
Foster wouldn’t really solve long-term problems for either side, but could be a stop-gap until other goalkeepers become available in the future.
