Full Leeds United squad revealed as Marcelo Bielsa’s side head to Tottenham with key doubt
Marcelo Bielsa may be forced to recalibrate the pieces in his midfield matrix this weekend as Mateusz Klich a doubt with a thigh injury.
The Argentine substituted the Polish international against West Bromwich Albion, replacing him with Jamie Shackleton in midfield, who could see a rare start in the Premier League.
Bielsa is facing off against a manager who he has had little joy in facing in the past. Jose Mourinho has beaten Bielsa on all four occasions when the two have been in opposing dugouts.
Leeds could have done with their midfield metronome Klich, as his absence will certainly be felt in going up against the press-resistant pairing of Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso.
Spurs are stacked with Champions League talent, while Leeds’ key figures: Diego Llorente, Liam Cooper and the aforementioned Klich remain on the treatment table, with Robin Koch in recovery.
Llorente suffered a setback from the injury he sustained against Chelsea prior to the Burnley game on December 27th, and a return date is as yet unknown. Liam Cooper’s withdrawal with an abdominal injury against Manchester United saw him left out of the squad to face Burnley and West Brom in the past week too, with no sign of him making a return to the starting XI just yet.
That means Leeds’ squad is likely to have a similar feel to it as against the Clarets and the Baggies, which considering the aggregate result of both games was 6-0, is far from a bad thing.
Klich will be a miss, unless he makes a swift enough recovery to be included in the matchday squad at the eleventh hour, but it is unlikely Bielsa will risk the fitness of a key player in a game which is not exactly a relegation six-pointer.
