Grealish tells friends his updated stance on quitting Aston Villa for Man City this summer
Jack Grealish has told friends he remains very interested in a sensational transfer from Aston Villa Man City this summer.
This site revealed on 2nd April that the Villa talisman is top of Pep Guardiola’s target list and the club are lining up a huge offer to get their man.
A recruitment source has told reporters that Grealish’s head has been turned by the strength of City’s interest behind the scenes.
His future will not be resolved until after this summer’s European Championships but he is said to be very attracted by the possibility of a glamour move to the Premier League champions.
Grealish wants to play regularly in the Champions League as well as develop his game under master coach Pep Guardiola.
City’s defeat in the Champions League final to Chelsea – and the loss of a potential £50million in added revenue – won’t stop their pursuit of the Villa talisman.
Manager Pep Guardiola would be willing to offload Raheem Sterling to bring in Grealish, who he believes could be an even better fit in his side.
But Sterling is not desperate to quit Etihad Stadium and has no interest in being used as a makeweight in the club’s pursuit of Harry Kane.
It is a delicate situation for Grealish, who is a boyhood Villa fan and has spent his entire career at the club where he is idolised by supporters.
Villa chiefs are preparing for the potential exit of their star man and this week completed the club-record signing of Emiliano Buendia from Norwich City.
Reporters has been told that it will not take £100m to lure the England international from the Midlands giants this summer.
The England international, 25, signed a new five-year contract last September that runs until the summer of 2025.
But it is believed to contain a buyout clause that would trigger his departure for a set fee.
