Harry Kane makes Jordan Henderson captaincy admission ahead of England final
Harry Kane has revealed having the likes of Jordan Henderson in the England squad makes his job as Three Lions captain easier.
While the striker is captain of his country, he does not boast the armband for Tottenham Hotspur while the Liverpool skipper is one of a number of players who lead their respective club sides alongside the likes of Harry Maguire, Conor Coady and Jack Grealish.
With Henderson also one of a number of players who has vast experience of playing in showpiece final and semi-finals having won the Champions League in 2019, Kane believes such experience is vital ahead of England’s Euro 2020 final clash with Italy on Sunday.
“It’s a massive strength of ours as a squad,” he told reporters. “As captain, it’s not an easy job but it’s made easier when you have those types of leaders around you.
“It’s not just one voice, we have many voices that help out during games, after games, before games and that’s a huge part of a successful team.
“We wouldn’t be where we are without all of those players and I think they’ve given a good vision for the younger players in the squad as well.
“Every big game you play, you want as much experience as possible and we definitely have that.
“It’s going to play an important role tomorrow and in the future of this team as well.”
