Jurgen Klopp says one Liverpool player was ‘exceptional’ yesterday
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said on BT Sport 1 (2:43pm, November 28, 2020) that Nathaniel Phillips played well against Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Reds played out a 1-1 draw with Brighton away from home in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Phillips started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, and Klopp was impressed by the display produced by the 23-year-old central defender.
Klopp said on: “Nat Phillips played an exceptional game, honestly.”
Phillips has done well when he has been called into action for Liverpool this season, and the 23-year-old produced a good display against Brighton on Saturday.
The youngster was a bit shaky with his passing in the first half, but he grew into the match and was solid at the back.
According to WhoScored, the 23-year-old had a pass accuracy of 80%, won eight headers, took 66 touches, and made four tackles, two interceptions and three clearances.
Liverpool will be disappointed at the final result, as the Reds had to settle for a 1-1 draw.
It looked like the Merseyside outfit were going to win, but a late penalty forced them to be content with just a point.
