Lionel Messi causes “surprise” by outlining “concrete plans for the future”
Lionel Messi has caused a surprise in an interview with a Spanish journalist by outlining “concrete plans for the future”.
The Barcelona superstar’s future is still up in the air due to his continual rift with the club, while their poor form has done little to convince him to stay.
Messi can begin negotiating with clubs from January 1 as his contract expires at the end of this season.
The Argentine has been linked with a move to Manchester City or the MLS, though a deal with either do not appear to be close.
Ahead of the release of their chat, LaSexta’s Jordi Evole has revealed that Messi spoke openly about his future plans, which caught him by surprise.
When asked if Messi could end up at new MLS franchise Inter Miami, Evole replied: “Put on the TV on Sunday: you aim very well.”
Before adding: “In the middle of the state of emergency we asked him for the interview.
“With judgement and humility he told us that he was nobody to talk about what was happening, but we agreed to talk later.
“His agent called me after the defeats against Cadiz and Juve and that’s when I went.
“He told me about very concrete plans for the future. He told me how he wants to finish [his career] and that surprised me.
“I went without an instruction manual. We know Messi very little and my intention was to meet him.
“It was very important for me to know what is behind the superstar. We ended up having a talk rather than an interview.”
