Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spoke to Marcus Rashford about Man Utd transfer target Jadon Sancho

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been speaking with Marcus Rashford about transfer target Jadon Sancho ahead of a potential bid for the Borussia Dortmund wonderkid. That’s according to a report in the Evening Standard, which claims Solskjaer speaks to his players about their relationships with potential new signings.

United are still confident they can secure the signing of Sancho in the upcoming window.

The Red Devils are believed to be leading the way to sign the Dortmund forward, despite the German side holding out for £116million.

Dortmund are said to have accepted that he will leave at some point this summer, but not necessarily to United.

The player himself is reportedly keen on returning to the Premier League, having left Manchester City in the search for more game time in 2017.

And according to the Standard, Solskjaer has been speaking with Rashford about the potential of signing him.

Rashford has been vocal about his England team-mate in the past, having previously urged the club to make a move.

Back in April, the striker said of a bid: “It would be good. Sancho is a great player.

“He’s like the new generation player. It’s definitely exciting to watch the player he’s becoming — hopefully we can all play together. That would be good.

“He plays off the cuff. He’s imaginative.

“I think in this generation, they’re the things you need to be world class.”

Meanwhile, United have been linked with a stunning swoop for Barcelona wonderkid Ansu Fati.

And transfer expert Duncan Castles believes the teenager could end up being a better alternative for Solskjaer.

He said on the Transfer Window Podcast: “He doesn’t even turn 18 until October so if you can secure this player and make him happy and make him a central part of your team, you potentially have trophies coming your way because you’ve got him into your squad ahead of the other big clubs.

“So Manchester United I think are being clever here.

“I’m not saying they’re going to sign the player because the competition is huge and Ansu’s preference is to remain at Barcelona.

“But there is an opportunity there and they’re trying to take advantage of that opportunity.”
