Paul Pogba ‘leaving Man Utd next summer’ as Juventus enter transfer talks with Mino Raiola
Paul Pogba is set to leave Manchester United, according to Fabrizio Romano. But not until next summer. The club are set to finally sanction the Frenchman’s exit following a plea from super-agent Mino Raiola earlier this month.
Things have not gone to play for the World Cup winner at Old Trafford in recent times due to an abundance of different problems.
Pogba has struggled with a persistent ankle problem but has failed to earn a regular place in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting XI since returning from injury.
Back in October, United triggered a one-year extension in Pogba’s contract with his current deal now set to run until 2022.
Last week, Raiola claimed his client was unhappy at the club and urged the United board to let him leave when the transfer window reopens.
Now according to Romano, Pogba is finally set to leave the club but it won’t be until next summer.
When asked for an update on the midfielder in the comments section of his Instagram, Romano replied to one fan: “Leaving next summer.”
The verdict comes as no surprise after Raiola made it clear Pogba’s United career was all but over.
“I can say it’s over for Paul Pogba at Manchester United,” Raiola told Tuttosport.
“There’s no use ignoring it. It’s better to speak honestly, look to the future and not waste time trying to blame people: Paul is unhappy at Manchester United, he can no longer express himself as he wants to or in the way that’s expected of him.
“He needs to change team, he needs a change of scene. He has a contract that expires in a year and a half’s time, in the summer of 2022, but I think the best solution would be for him to leave in the next transfer window.
“Otherwise the club from Old Trafford, with whom he has a good relationship, know very well that they risk losing him on a free transfer, considering that right now he does not want to extend his deal.
“If people don’t get that, they know very little about football. In any case, they’ll all blame me if Paul leaves next summer.”
Italian journalist Carlo Garganese reports that Juventus have already entered talks with Raiola over a deal for Pogba.
The 27-year-old is the club’s top transfer target but they may have to wait until next summer to seal the deal.
Pogba joined Juventus from United in 2012 upon the expiry of his Red Devils contract.
Now he could be set to return to Turin, following his £89million move to United in 2016 under Jose Mourinho.
