Real Madrid consider re-signing Jorge de Frutos

Real Madrid are reportedly pondering a potential move to bring former forward Jorge de Frutos back to the club this summer.

According to a report by Transfer Market Web, Jorge de Frutos has once again popped up on the radar of Real Madrid over a move in the summer transfer window. The 24-year-old Levante forward is also the subject of interest from fellow La Liga outfit Getafe.

Jorge de Frutos joined Real Madrid from Rayo Majadahonda in the summer of 2018, representing the club’s reserve side. The Spaniard, though, spent more time away from Real Madrid than at the club, having had loan spells at Real Valladolid and Rayo Vallecano before being sold to Levante last summer.

The 24-year-old has made such a rapid impression at the Valencian club that he has emerged on the radar of his former club, Real Madrid. So far at Levante, de Frutos has amassed a tally of four goals and 12 assists in 41 appearances, with his creative nous clearly impressing those at Real Madrid.

The Spanish forward was first linked with Real Madrid back in March, when Lucas Vazquez’s future was up in the air. While Vazquez has since penned a long-term contract with Los Blancos, Real Madrid remain in the market for attacking reinforcements amid uncertainties surrounding Marco Asensio.

The 25-year-old forward has been linked with a bevy of English clubs in recent times, and his possible departure will open up a spot in the Real Madrid attacking unit, one that can be filled by someone like de Frutos. Having said that, it will also be interesting to see if Real Madrid are looking to pull off a trick by signing him on the cheap and selling him on profit immediately.

Barcelona have recently emulated this feat by buying Marc Cucurella and offloading him to Getafe in a span of days. Speaking of, Getafe are rivalling their fellow Madrilean side, with a summer move on the cards for de Frutos.

What now remains to be seen is if Real Madrid end up launching the offensive for their former forward or if they face defeat in his pursuit. It will also be interesting to see if Levante fend off all the interest in him by keeping hold of the 24-year-old forward.
