Real Madrid’s six players up for sale this summer is blow to Arsenal over Martin Odegaard future
Real Madrid are set to put six players up for sale this summer – but it is bad news for Arsenal on Martin Odegaard.
The Spanish side let their Norwegian midfielder head to north London on loan in January.
He has made 13 appearances for the Gunners, missing the last three games due to an ankle injury picked up on international duty.
While Odegaard only has two goals to his name in that time, he has impressed the club enough to spark speculation of a permanent deal.
But Spanish outlet Marca have reported that selling the 22-year-old is not part of Madrid’s plans.
Zinedine Zidane has put six players on his last to sell this summer as he looks to fund moves for PSG’s Kylian Mbappe and Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.
And Odegaard is not on the list, with the Norwegian regarded as an “untouchable” player – despite rumours of a falling out with the manager.
The 22-year-old has been placed in a favoured position buy the club alongside Rodriygo, Vinicius Junior and Federico Valverde.
Real’s Brazilian forward played a vital role in the club’s progress to the Champions League semi-finals, scoring two goals in the first leg of a 3-1 aggregate win against Liverpool.
The Bernabeu side are reportedly not even willing to listen to offers for an of those players, which puts Arsenal’s hopes of a deal down.
At the top of Madrid’s sell list is Gareth Bale, who has spent the season on loan at Arsenal’s rivals Tottenham.
Isco and Marcelo are also about to enter the last years of their contracts, having been pushed out of Zidane’s squad this season.
Luka Jovic is the fourth name on the list, having spent the season on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt – a year after arriving in Spain from the Bundesliga side.
While Mariano Diaz and Alvaro Odriozola have also found themselves on the fringes of Zidane’s squad.
