Timo Werner Instagram activity hints Chelsea boss Frank Lampard could make £75m signing
Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Timo Werner ahead of the summer transfer window and the Germany international’s activity on social media could suggest the Blues are set to sign Kai Havertz. The Blues have been busy ahead of the summer window.
Chelsea have already signed Hakim Ziyech from Ajax, as well as agreeing a deal with RB Leipzig for Werner.
Frank Lampard is also eyeing moves for Bayer Leverkusen star Havertz and Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell.
Bundesliga giants Leverkusen are demanding at least £75m for Havertz, 21.
And Werner’s Instagram activity could suggest the German playmaker is on his way to Stamford Bridge.
Since completing his move to Chelsea, Werner has followed three accounts: Chelsea’s official Instagram, Antonio Rudiger and Havertz.
Lampard was asked about a move for Havertz on Wednesday, however, the Blues boss remained coy.
“He’s a top player but we’re certainly not going to comment on players at other teams,” he said. “It cannot be our focus. No bids have gone in.”
Leverkusen coach Marcel Daum has been vocal on Havertz’s future, insisting the playmaker could leave this summer.
“The situation with coronavirus is so strange and so complicated that it’s still open that he will leave us,” he said.
“I don’t know what will happen, but at Bayer he has the right place to develop his strengths and improve. The only thing I know is that Bayer won’t sell him for a cheap fee.
“Everyone is asking about Kai Havertz. If you see him play it tells you everything. For me, he has the elegance of Zidane. If you see his movement, he’s very elegant, he’s always calm, he has great passing ability.
“What a lot of people don’t see, because we watch him every day, is that he’s pretty fast. That’s a big bonus.
“He’s a great player; he’s scoring goals, he’s great in the air and he’s pretty fast.
“It’s up to him how far he can go. I can’t say he will be the best German player ever, but he has the talent and there are no limits. He’s displaying signs of Zidane.”
