Timo Werner makes Kai Havertz prediction Chelsea boss Frank Lampard will love
Timo Werner has promised the best is yet to come from Kai Havertz at Chelsea with the midfielder still adjusting to life in the Premier League. Chelsea spent big in the summer transfer window completely revamping Frank Lampard’s squad with Havertz being the biggest purchase of all.
The 21-year-old had established himself as one of the world’s brightest attacking midfielders from his time at Bayer Leverkusen.
He was particularly impressive in Europe last season, scoring four and providing two assists in just five Europa League matches.
But it’s been a relatively slow start to life at Stamford Bridge compared to his usual standards.
Given the amount of changes that Chelsea underwent in the summer, Lampard will have expected some growing pains to start with.
There were encouraging signs at the weekend when Chelsea blew past Burnley in a comfortable 3-0 victory.
Hakim Ziyech was particularly impressive with Werner also getting amongst the goals again.
Havertz has netted just once in seven Premier League matches, but he did score a hat-trick against Barnsley back in September.
Werner and Havertz are team-mates for the German national side and often link up for Joachim Low’s attacking threat.
Chelsea will be hoping for a similar outcome at Stamford Bridge sooner rather than later and Werner believes it’s only a matter of time before fans start seeing the best of Havertz.
“I know him very well and he is one of the most talented players in the world,” he said.
“He can play like an old and wise player.
“I think he feels very well here. We talk a lot about settling in and he is very happy to be here.
“He has showed what he can bring into the team.
“For him it’s important to score but he is much more than that. He plays a lot of key passes and moves.
“He is very talented and will get better and better.
“He has had to learn about a new style and country, we will see a lot of good games from him.”
