Tottenham ace Eriksen keen to wait for other transfer offers despite Inter Milan agreement
Tottenham ace Christian Eriksen has agreed terms over a move to Inter Milan, but is still waiting on other offers from elsewhere. Eriksen could leave Tottenham this month with Inter the front-runners for his signature.
But he is also open to waiting until the summer, when he could leave on a free, according to the Times.
Eriksen is available this month for around £20m but knows he will earn more in wages should he wait until the summer, although Tottenham are keen to get him out now to recoup a fee.
And it is claimed he has agreed a £100,000 a week deal in principle with Inter, but is still ready to hold out in case someone from Spain makes an offer.
Eriksen, 27, would prefer to move to Spain and had hoped Real Madrid or Barcelona made moves in the summer.
Eriksen admitted he wanted a new challenge back in the summer but was unable to seal a move.
He rejected a switch to Manchester United and has turned them down again this month as he set his sights on leaving England altogether.
The move to Inter appears most likely now despite his initial desire to play in Spain.
Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has been speaking about the deal and insisted they have not yet entered negotiations.
“It is interesting, it [Eriksen’s contract] expires in June,” he told Sky Italia.
“But we have not entered into negotiations neither with the club or with agent.
“There are many names and rumuors circulating that are certainly not true, so far there are no ‘is nothing.
“The group that exists today is first in the standings and must be respected.”
Eriksen was back in the Tottenham starting XI on Saturday for the defeat to Liverpool but was booed when he came off after 69 minutes.
He has had a run in the team over Christmas playing 90 minutes against Norwich, Southampton and Middlesbrough in recent weeks.
But he has only started 10 league games all season with his future appearing to grip the club negatively.
Jose Mourinho has managed to get Toby Alderweireld to sign a new deal at the club but Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen still appear to be on their way by the summer at the latest.
