Tottenham have received a potential boost in their pursuit of experienced Spanish defender, Sergio Ramos, with Real Madrid struggling to sort his new deal as yet.
According to AS, Los Blancos have yet to agree to new terms with Ramos, 34, despite being desperate to see him sign a new contract.
AS claims Madrid are looking to make hundreds of millions in savings due to the pandemic, with player wages and bonuses one of the things being taken into consideration as part of the cuts.
Spurs boss Jose Mourinho is said to be monitoring Ramos ahead of a potential move. The Spaniard, who has enjoyed near unparalelled success in Spain, is set to be free to leave in the summer.
Ramos is closing in on 1000 career appearances and despite his age, is still very much a regular for Madrid and Spain.
And that’s all it can be classed as really, a glimmer. Madrid will still be confident of tying down their man to a new deal, even if he does have to accept reduced terms for a while.
Spurs though could offer Ramos something different. Having never played in England, he might well fancy the challenge, much like Thiago Silva has taken up with Chelsea.
And with Mourinho in charge, you wouldn’t put it past the Spurs boss managing to land such a prestigious player.
