Tottenham ‘open talks’ with Napoli as Jose Mourinho demands Kalidou Koulibaly
Jose Mourinho has told Tottenham to get him Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly, it’s claimed.
The Portuguese was ushered into the Spurs hot seat after Mauricio Pochettino got given his marching orders.
And despite having only been in the job two weeks, he’s already keen to shake things up.
Reinforcements are expected in the New Year with the north Londoners looking to make an ambitious top-four charge.
According to Spanish news outlet ElDesmarque , Koulibaly is firmly on the agenda.
It’s suggested provisional talks between the Premier League side and Serie A outfit have already taken place.
Mourinho has a long-running interest in Koulibaly who has been a standout performer in Italy.
But the experienced chief looks closer to getting his man than ever before as Levy considers splashing the cash.
Spurs will face stiff competition for his signature, though.
It’s suggested Real Madrid are also jockeying for position as they look to bolster their back line.
Mourinho has secured two wins in his first three Premier League games as Spurs boss.
However, he couldn’t mastermind a victory over Manchester United earlier this week.
As Spurs look to get back to winning ways against Burnley today, Mourinho admits he’s been doing his homework.
“I didn’t go home, so the next morning at eight o’clock I was here doing what? Burnley,” Mourinho said.
“Analysing Burnley, trying to organise the training session, trying to organise the meeting, choosing the clips to show them the most clear possible way Burnley works.
“That’s the way you have to do it in football. Don’t accept in a passive way.
“It’s obvious we have problems but we have players with quality, a great human dressing room.
“I like the guys very much but we need to change that feeling of feeling sorry about our mistakes and feeling sad with our bad results.”
