Five-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton won the 1,000th Formula One Grand Prix that was held in China on Sunday, finishing almost 6.5 seconds ahead of his Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas.

For Hamilton, the victory was his 6th in Shanghai and 75th in his career, moving him into first place in the overall standings. Hamilton’s team-mate Valtteri Bottas finished second, while Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari secured third place.

The race was also billed as the 1,000th in Formula One history dating from the first race that took place at the English Silverstone circuit back in 1950.
