Villarreal mock Arsenal with Unai Emery picture after Europa League triumph
Villarreal have mocked Arsenal via Twitter with a photo of their former manager Unai Emery following Thursday evening’s Europa League clash between the pair.
Emery, who took over at the Gunners after Arsene Wenger resigned in 2018, led Villarreal to their first European final since 2005 – after a 0-0 draw with Arsenal.
However, not just satisfied with dumping the London-based side out of the competition: Villarreal took another shot at Arsenal on their English Twitter account.
The Tweet, which simply reads “Good Evening,” features a photo of the Spaniard with the words “Unai Emery, Masterclass” brandished across the middle.
The caption – from the video in question – is from a video uploaded by Coaches Voice, in August of last year, from their ‘Masterclass’ series.
It features Emery talking about his tactics from the 2016 Europa League final – when his Sevilla side put three past Liverpool on their way to lifting the trophy.
The Spaniard is something of a Europa League specialist; he claimed three titles at Sevilla – including two on the bounce – and he took Arsenal to the final in 2019.
He will now hope to claim his fourth victory in the competition when his Villareal side takes on Manchester United – who comfortably swatted away Roma – at the end of the month.
The “Good Evening” is a reference to the phrase that the Spaniard was routinely mocked for during his time in London.
However, Emery had the last laugh as he started his post-match interview on BT Sport with the phrase.
