Wolves to rival Liverpool for transfer of £30m attacker
Wolves are set to rival Liverpool for Watford winger Ismaila Sarr in the summer transfer window – if winger Adama Traore departs Molineux.
Sarr, 22, is expected to leave Watford after their relegation to the Championship – his exit from Vicarage Road would be after only a single season at the club, having become the Hornets’ record signing last summer when he arrived from French outfit Rennes.
The Senegalese playmaker scored six goals in 30 appearances, including a brace in that surprise 3-0 win over champions Liverpool over the festive period.
Sarr attracted interest from Jurgen Klopp after that, and the Reds had been tipped to move for Sarr on the back of Watford’s drop – but now the Daily Mirror claim that Wolves are also viable contenders for Sarr’s signature.
That would be in the case that Traore was to leave this summer, with the Spaniard attracting interest aplenty himself over the course of a very impressive season in which he combined to great effect with Wolves top scorer Raul Jimenez.
Liverpool and Manchester City have both been credited with an interest in Traore, who also has suitors overseas.
Wolves, of course, signed Traore up for around £18m from Middlesbrough two years ago on a five-year contract, so with so much time left to run on his current deal, Wanderers are in no need or rush to part with one of their prized assets.
Wolves are currently preparing for the resumption of their Europa League campaign which will see them take on Olympiacos in the second leg of their last 16 tie, with the aggregate score currently 1-1.
