Google is following us

Google can track the user even if location history is off.

According to a report by the Associated Press (AP), Google keeps recording your location even if you turn off these features from a smartphone user privacy settings.

This feature was used last year by a police officer to locate suspects in a cannon in the state of North Carolina, USA. The police asked Google to find devices near the scene of the murder.

Google often requests permission from the user to use location information. However, the AP study found that users of Google services on Android devices and iPhones recorded all their locations during the day, even if their privacy settings were changed and location history was not enabled. Findings confirmed by Princeton University researchers also recorded that the company automatically updated daily weather updates when the Google Maps application was launched.

It turns out that last year, location information of device users who worked with Android software was automatically transmitted to Google via nearby base stations even when location service was turned off. On top of that, Google announced that the app would be terminated shortly.
